Because of the geographical position of the town of Wailuku, there are a number of advantages it has enjoyed. Because of the beautiful location of the town, in the early part of the twentieth century, the town was the major tourist destination in the whole of Hawaii. But since the rise of the town of Ka 'anapali and other resort towns, the importance of the town of Wailuku as a major tourist destination has been reduced.
This reduction in importance has been so much so that there are not a lot of hotels in this town. But even with all this, the community of the town remains as pleasant as it always was, and tourists can came here for a day trip if they want to. Another geographical importance of the town of Wailuku is that the location is ideal for the sugar cane industry, which is very prosperous, and provides jobs to a lot of people. |
